Today, Congresswoman Donna Shalala (FL-27) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.2420, the National Museum of the American Latino Act, a bill that would establish a National Museum of the American Latino in the Smithsonian Institution. "The establishment of this museum is long overdue. Latinos have made so many invaluable contributions to the richness of American life and there is no facet of our country's history, culture, or society that has not been greatly impacted by the millions of Latinos who call the United States home.
